GEAB&P corporate co-head Larry Bell quoted on properly valuing acquisition assets

Lawrence M. Bell, co-head of the corporate practice group at Golenbock Eiseman Assor Bell & Peskoe LLP, is featured in an article on Law360.com. The article, entitled “Intangible Assets Face Scrutiny in M&A Transactions” describes how goodwill write-downs over the past year are factoring in to current merger and acquisition negotiations, and how companies might be taking a harder look at intangible asset values due to concerns over possible hits to their earnings. Bell provides commentary on the value of nonremunerative assets such as a firm’s brand or executive expertise in a merger or acquisition, and notes that such assets are often undervalued in the purchase price paid for a firm. http://www.law360.com/articles/124151 (subscription required)
