Leron Thumim

Leron Thumim’s litigation practice is broad, including representing clients in manufacturing and service industries through all phases of arbitration, internal investigations, and general commercial litigation, including those involving breaches of contract, securities claims, employment disputes, and intellectual property actions.  Having served as a clerk in the Southern District of New York, Leron understands that effective pursuit of a client’s objectives often requires assertiveness, initiative, tactical thinking and, when appropriate, avoidance of needlessly confrontational stances.  Clients appreciate his strong written and oral advocacy skills and his ability to devise “outside of the box” approaches to resolving disputes.  A strategic thinker, Leron is always reassessing his client’s situation to ensure he’s pursuing the approach most likely to bring about a favorable result in as speedy and efficient a manner as possible.

Representative engagements, including while with prior firms:

  • Represented the Federal Housing Finance Agency as conservator for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in a series of securities fraud suits against leading investment banks, in which Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ultimately recovered tens of billions of dollars.
  • Won a post-asset acquisition working capital adjustment arbitration on behalf of a large multinational company, obtaining an award of approximately $74 million plus arbitration fees.
  • Accepted a district court’s request to represent an inmate (pro bono) at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in a § 1983 prisoner civil rights case that alleged violations of the inmate’s Sixth Amendment right to be free from cruel and usual punishment.  Ultimately secured necessary medical treatment for the inmate, along with a favorable, five-figure settlement.
  • Supervised large-scale discovery projects and document reviews involving hundreds of contract attorneys and millions of documents
  • Handled logistics of an offensive discovery effort that included over 500 depositions
