Ms. Veit is an experienced commercial litigator who has successfully tried and litigated a wide range of business disputes in state and federal courts, as well as in arbitration, throughout the United States. In addition, she has successfully resolved many matters through motion practice and favorable settlements and mediation. Ms. Veit also provides advice on employment-related matters, particularly in connection with the termination of employment and discrimination issues.

Ms. Veit has expertise in a wide range of contractual disputes (such as those arising from corporate or asset acquisitions, distribution agreements, management agreements, licensing agreements and partnership agreements); business torts and trade regulation matters, including fraud, antitrust, breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition and Lanham Act claims; labor disputes (such as those arising from employment agreements, non-competition agreements and claims of discrimination); and bankruptcy related litigation (such as fraudulent conveyance actions, aiding and abetting claims, fraud claims, and various contested matters).

Representative cases handled by Ms. Veit include:

  • Representation of chapter 11 trustee pursuing financial institutions, law firms, insiders and other third parties for participation in debtors' Ponzi scheme resulting in $140 million loss, fraudulent conveyances, and other matters.
  • Representation of commercial real estate owner and developer in dispute arising from claimed multi-million dollar financial interest in development project by former attorney.
  • Long-standing representation of, and advice to, manufacturer and national distributor of perishable products, including in lawsuits against local distributors and venture partner concerning contract, business tort and indemnity issues.
  • Representation of manufacturer of heavy machinery in disputes arising from termination of, and alleged breaches of, long term contracts.
  • Provision of employment dispute resolution advice to numerous clients on ongoing basis.
  • Representation of mineral supplier in competitor's antitrust action arising from alleged patent misconduct, resulting in a favorable settlement shortly before trial.
  • Obtained dismissal and affirmance on appeal of complaint alleging fraud by investment banking firm and others in sale of $1 billion property.
  • Represented magazine publisher in $100 million joint venture dispute against Rosie O'Donnell that ended in a two week, highly publicized bench trial.
  • Obtained defense verdict in sexual harassment case following week-long jury trial.
  • Represented chapter 11 debtors (nationwide owners of golf courses and entertainment centers) in numerous contested matters, including following bench trials.
  • Obtained dismissal of fraud complaint in joint venture by healthcare company.
  • Obtained summary judgment dismissal of complaint alleging wrongful termination of distributor for client, a global electronics manufacturer.
  • Represented European financial institution in obtaining appointment of Receiver and assisting in locating and liquidating intellectual property and hard assets of borrower film company.
  • Obtained defense verdict following jury trial of employment termination dispute for utility service company.
